A lunch meeting did not go quite as planned.
This week, the biography of 52-year-old tech billionaire Elon Musk was released. The biography has been titled “Elon Musk”, and has been written by Walter Isaacson. The biographer is no stranger to profiling powerful figures, as he has written biographies of Steve Jobs, Albert Einstein and Leonardo da Vinci, among others.
The biography mentions, among other things, a trip to Russia before Musk founded the space company SpaceX in 2002.
It was after a night of partying and fun in Paris that the then 30-year-old Elon Musk went to a lunch meeting in Moscow to realize one of his big visions at the time, namely sending a greenhouse to Mars.
It writes Business Insiderafter reading the biography.
In a lunch meeting with Russian businessmen, where the purpose was to negotiate the purchase of rockets, Musk and his fellow travelers are said to have been served “little food and large shots of vodka”, according to the biography.
– I calculated the weight of the food and the weight of the vodka, and they were about the same, Musk told Isaacson, writes Business Insider.
The meeting, which took place in the back room of a restaurant in Moscow, is said to have ended with 30-year-old Musk fainting and hitting his head on the table.
There were thus no Russian rockets on the resourceful entrepreneur.
