Elon Musk’s Neuralink company, which created the brain chip, hopes to start chipping people next year.

The chip is intended for medical purposes, such as the treatment of neurological diseases and serious injuries to the spinal cord. The device will also help people suffering from quadriplegia or tetraplegia, which means complete or partial paralysis of the arms and legs.
“Neuralink technology works very well in monkeys. We do a lot of testing and just confirm that the device is very safe and reliable. In addition, it can be removed very easily. We hope to put the first chips in humans in 2022. This “There will be patients with severe spinal cord injuries such as tetraplegics, quadriplegics. We are awaiting approval from the US Food and Drug Administration,” Musk said.
“Progress will accelerate when we have chips in people (it’s hard to have in-depth conversations with monkeys) next year,” he added on Twitter.
This year, Neuralink released a video of a monkey playing a video game using its chip, and in July said it would develop its technology to allow quadriplegics to control digital devices with their minds.
In July, a biotech company named Synchron also developed this type of chip and received approval from the Food and Drug Administration to begin testing on humans.
