In a series of tweets, Agrawal described Elon Musk as both “a passionate and intense critic” of Twitter.
Elon Musk tweeted back, “Looking forward to working with Parag and the board to make meaningful improvements to Twitter in the months ahead!”, hinting he’ll push for changes soon.
Former Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey commented on the nomination in a tweet. He said that Elon Musk “cares deeply about our world and the role Twitter plays in it.”
- He later added that he had wanted to see Musk on the board for “a long time”.
Elon Musk recently became Twitter’s largest shareholder.
The Tesla CEO has acquired 73.5 million shares of Twitter (NYSE: TWTR), or 9.2% of the company’s stock, for an estimated value of almost $3 billion.
- After the announcement of this acquisition, the stock market of Twitter jumped by just over 30%.
- It jumped another 7% after Musk’s appointment to the board was announced.
According to documents filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the billionaire has pledged not to increase his stake beyond 14.9% of Twitter shares, at least for the next 2 years.
Musk, who has more than 80 million Twitter followers, has often criticized the social network.
