LAREDO, Texas.- In April 2022, Elon Musk’s Tesla company inaugurated its plant in Texas, located near Austin, where The Boring Company is also located, another company of the billionaire dedicated to the construction of tunnels. Thousands of jobs were generated as a result of this, and that is why now, the tycoon would seek to build some 110 homes in that area for some of his employees.
According to the rumors that have circulated so far, the construction would be in charge of The Boring Company, located in Bastrop County in Austin, and is known as “Project Amazing.”
According to online property records, the land is owned by Gappes Bass LLC, an affiliate of The Boring Company. Furthermore, it is mentioned that Adam Pashaian, a corporate controller of said infrastructure company, is also registered as a corporate agent for Gapped Bass.
County documents say the housing development to be built for Musk employees will have streets named Boring Boulevard, Cutterhead Crossing, Waterjet Way and Porpoise Place. However, at the moment it is unknown with certainty when construction would begin.
As recently as February, Bastrop County Commissioner Mel Hamner told an Austin news outlet that there was an affordable housing crisis in the area.
And it is that for some years this sector of Texas, and in general the Lone Star State, has become very popular for Americans and foreigners to settle in search of a better quality of life due to the benefits it offers. That, coupled with supply chain problems left behind by the COVID-19 pandemic, has caused land, housing and apartments to become scarce in certain areas.
This would be one of the reasons why Musk’s company plans to build these condominiums for its employees.
Bastrop is the city that is home to the new Austin Airport. Construction company Lennar’s website advertises 3D-printed manufactured homes on its website, and Holm said he could use this technology for development in Austin. Located along SH-71, Bastrop residents enjoy an easy, traffic-free commute to local business and employment centers, including the newly built 4,000-square-foot Seton Medical Center and the Tesla Gigafactory in southeast Austin.
In 2021, Musk said that the Giga-factory he built in the Lone Star State alone could employ up to 20,000 workers. SpaceX is also expected to build a factory in the area, so perhaps the number of homes currently projected will increase in the near future.
