Jun 4 (Reuters) – Tesla Chief Executive Officer (TSLA) Elon Musk asked Thursday for Amazon (AMZN) to split, after an author complained on social media about the inability to self-publish a book through the The world’s largest online retail distribution group.
“This is crazy @JeffBezos,” Musk wrote to the Amazon boss. Both are billionaires and oversee competing space exploration activities in addition to their roles at Tesla and Amazon. “It is time to dismember Amazon. Monopolies are not doing well!” Added Musk in a second message.
Time to break up Amazon. Monopolies are wrong!

Musk has no legal authority to force an Amazon division, which commented on Musk’s tweet, but noted that the book in question, by author Alex Berenson, had been mistakenly blocked and was now available for sale through his Kindle electronic reading service. The decision to give the green light to the sale of the book was not due to Musk, Amazon said.
The Tesla boss, who earlier this month said he would take a break from Twitter, has a history of speaking candidly on the micro-messaging social network.
A tweet in 2018 that he had secured financing to remove Tesla from the stock market ended in a lawsuit against Musk by the SEC, the US stock exchange supervisor that the US Stock Exchange parties, which the parties subsequently resolved.
