VIVA – Social media Twitter gave a stern warning to Elon Musk for delaying the acquisition. Twitter has said it will “enforce the merger agreement” which could be seen as a threat of legal action if there is a cancellation.
The delay in the acquisition was made because the founder of SpaceX and Tesla was concerned about the number of fake accounts circulating on Twitter.
Elon Musk instead demands proof that less than 5 percent of bot users are. The richest man on Earth said the acquisition ‘cannot move forward’.
This latest unilateral change is seen as Elon Musk’s ploy to acquire Twitter at a discount, or it could be that Jeff Bezos’ rival simply can’t afford Twitter.
If he decides to cancel, Musk will have to pay a $1 billion ‘break-up fee’.
“The board and Musk agreed to a transaction at a price of US$54.20 per share. We believe this agreement is in the best interest of all shareholders. We intend to close the transaction and enforce the merger agreement,” Twitter’s official statement, quoted on the website as saying. IndependentFriday, May 20, 2022.
Tensions between Elon Musk and Twitter have only escalated in recent weeks. Recently, the man who had just met President Joko Widodo even reacted to a poop emoji to a tweet by Twitter Chief Executive Parag Agrawal.
