Elon Musk Says Tesla Accepts Cryptocurrency Dogecoin As Payment | Money

By “merchandise” Elon Musk may refer to products such as clothing, accessories or scale models of the cars such as the ‘Cyberquad’ or ‘Cyberwhistle’ for children. Their prices range from $50 to several thousand dollars. Musk did not disclose which items you can buy with dogecoin.

After the announcement, the price of dogecoin shot up by about 25 percent to almost 0.20 euros. The price of the meme coin that originated as a joke has risen about 6,000 percent in one year.

It is not the first time that the company has experimented with cryptocurrencies. Tesla made it possible to pay for a car with bitcoin at the beginning of this year. In May, the company suddenly stopped accepting bitcoin as a payment method. Musk then explained that the company would only accept bitcoin again when mining of the digital coins can be done with more sustainable energy sources.

Tesla boss Elon Musk is known for being a huge crypto fan. With his tweets – for 66 million followers – he regularly caused the prices of cryptocurrencies such as dogecoin and bitcoin to go up and down. He is also accused of manipulating prices.
