KOMPAS.com – CEO of the company electric car Tesla, Elon Musk, dismissing the notion that his electric car was used for spying China. In fact, Elon Musk said that Tesla would be shut down if used to spy in China.
“There is a very strong urge for us to keep any information secret. If Tesla uses a car to spy on in China or anywhere else, we will be shut down,” said Elon Musk.

A source told Reuters that the Tesla car was not allowed to enter the Chinese military compound, because of the cameras installed in the car.
The Chinese government is worried about cameras omnidirectional and sensors ultrasound installed in Tesla cars can cause sensitive data leakage.
According to a report by The Wall Street Journal, the Chinese government has also banned government agency employees from using Elon Musk’s Tesla.
The Chinese government’s concern that Tesla uses his car to do this spying stems from the allegation that Tesla does not follow the requirements set by the government, regarding the operation of electric cars there.
As compiled from Nikkei Asia, in China there are regulations mandating electric car companies including electric hybrid cars to share driving data real-time (such as vehicle location and battery usage) to the authorities.
And Tesla is said not to follow these rules.

Tesla itself does have a production plant in China. This factory is named Giga 3 which is located in Shanghai, China.

For Tesla, China is a promising market share. In 2020, Tesla managed to sell 147,445 electric cars in China. This amount contributes 30 percent of Tesla’s total global sales.
