Elon Musk ambitious to build the first human colony on the Planet Mars. But it turns out more than that, he also believes that in the future, humans can become an interstellar species, not only between planets.
As he has repeatedly said, exploring and living beyond planet Earth is essential to ensuring the survival of mankind. The first colony on Mars may already be around 2050.
“If we are able to make sustainable life on Mars, then we have passed the biggest stage. That then will be the basis for becoming an interstellar species,” he wrote on Twitter.
“Earth is about 4.5 billion years old, but life has not yet become interstellar and it is still very uncertain how much time remains to achieve that,” added the SpaceX boss.
SpaceX itself is building a powerful rocket called Starship that will be used to go to Mars. Recently, Elon Musk also expressed concern about the future of this Earth.
He assessed that humans are increasingly threatened by climate change, asteroids or comets, declining birth rates to potential nuclear hazards.
“If you wait long enough, then you know that the Earth will be uninhabitable. So in the long term, of course we will all die,” he predicts, as quoted detikINET from Futurism.
Regarding the future of the Earth, he is also worried about the decline in the birth rate which could have a negative impact in the long run. In addition, nuclear disasters due to war or otherwise cannot be underestimated. “I don’t know how big the risk is, but it’s not zero,” he said Elon Musk.
