It may soon be necessary to address Elon Musk by calling him “sire”: the whimsical boss of Tesla was very officially proclaimed Monday “Technoking” (king of tech) by his company.
Its CFO Zach Kirkhorn has meanwhile been awarded the title of “Master of Coin”, probably in reference to the recent purchase by the electric vehicle maker of $ 1.5 billion of bitcoin virtual currency.
The company did not specify whether these titles involved additional tasks.
The decision was announced in an administrative document sent to the American Financial Markets Authority (SEC) and, laconically, consists of two lines: “As of March 15, 2021, the shares of Elon Musk and Zach Kirkhorn were respectively changed to Technoking of Tesla and Master of Coin. Elon and Zach keep their respective positions of CEO and CFO ”.
Accustomed to controversies, Mr. Musk has regularly floundered in the past with the SEC, which accused him of having deceived investors when he had mentioned in a tweet in 2018 a possible withdrawal from the Tesla Stock Exchange while ‘he did not have the financial backing strong enough for such an operation.
The authority then forced the businessman, with a fortune currently estimated at 179 billion dollars by Bloomberg, to give up the post of chairman of the board of directors and to pay a fine of 20 million dollars.
The entrepreneur also interfered on Monday in the new fashion of “NFT”, these virtual objects in vogue sales which allow a digital work to be associated with a certificate of authenticity in theory non-piratable thanks to the technology of the “blockchain”, popularized thanks to cryptocurrencies like bitcoin.
Mr. Musk announced on his Twitter account for sale a piece of techno music featuring the theme of “NFT” (Non-Fungible Token) as “NFT”.
According to the American press, his partner, the Canadian singer Grimes, recently auctioned off “NFT” packages combining an audiovisual creation with unpublished music for a total of $ 6 million.
