The Philadelphia district attorney is sending Elon Musk to jail, asking him to stop the million-dollar lottery, which the billionaire started to reward a Donald Trump voter every day. Elon Musk is expected to appear on Thursday 31/10 before the American justice for this issue.
The owner of Tesla, X and SpaceX, who is backing Donald Trump in the crucial November 5 presidential election, launched the lottery on October 19, giving a first check to a voter in Pennsylvania.
Outgoing President Joe Biden called the initiative “absolutely inappropriate.”
Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner announced that he was suing to stop the practice, saying, among other things, that it is his responsibility to “protect the public from interference with the integrity of elections.”
The Justice Department told Musk’s associates last week that it is illegal to pay people money to vote or register.
The ministry did not speak of going to court, but clarified that in case of violation of the law, penalties ranging from fines to imprisonment are provided.
