Elon Musk is ready to close Tesla if it is proven that he is spying on China

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – The Chinese government has banned production electric cars Tesla to enter a state military facility. This is a security measure taken by China because of concerns about the presence of cameras on Tesla car.

Responding to this, CEO Tesla Elon Musk admitted that he is ready to close down his company, if it is proven that he is spying on any country.

“If Tesla is proven to be using a car to spy on China or any country, we will close Tesla,” he said. CNBC, Sunday (21/3/2021).

Tesla’s operational restrictions have become one of the main topics of discussion between Chinese diplomats and the United States (US).

According to Musk, the Chinese military suspicion is the result of relations between Washington and Beijing that have heated up in recent years. Therefore, he called on the Land of Uncle Sam and the Land of the Bamboo Curtain to increase mutual trust.

China itself is the largest automotive market. Currently, electric vehicle (EV) manufacturers are competing for this market.

Over the past year, Tesla managed to sell 147,445 EV units in China, 30 percent of the company’s total sales.

In addition, the Model 3 and Model Y cars now control a 13 percent share of the electric car market in China. Currently, Tesla is competing with Xpeng, a local electric car manufacturer.
