Elon Musk has had enough of Corona and starts up the Tesla factory again

Elon Musk is known as a major provocateur of Silicon Valley – this does not change even in the Corona crisis. For him, this is over, even if the county responsible sees it differently.

The Tesla founder Elon Musk is sometimes like a Silicon Valley version of Donald Trump: he loves to provoke, his followers adore him, and with Twitter as a gun barrel he fires one volley after the other. Similar to Trump, Musk doesn’t really believe in the danger of the corona virus. The pandemic was “stupid,” he tweeted. It took a visit from the local officials so that Musk realized in mid-March that electric cars did not meet an essential need and that he closed the Tesla factory in Fremont, California.

Even now, as the first exit bans in America are gradually being relaxed, Musk is out of line again. Contrary to the prohibitions of the local authority, he announced, of course via Twitter, on Tuesday that the Tesla factory would resume production immediately. Before that, Musk had been relegated to the California authorities for days and threatened to move Tesla production to neighboring Nevada or Texas. From his point of view, the “shelter in place” instruction that still applies in his community is a state attack and is also illegal. Musk filed a lawsuit against the county on Saturday. But the chances of success are small, because even the governor made it clear that it was up to the municipalities to decide on the exact schedule of the opening.

Musk’s uprising is a tightrope walk for affected Alameda County. With 10,000 employees, Tesla is one of the largest employers in the region, and you don’t want to lose that despite the narcissistic CEO. At the same time, the community is risking Musk’s going it alone and imitating the “Wild West”. The community said it hoped that the company would behave cooperatively even without enforcement. Musk, on the other hand, asked as a precaution that the police should only arrest him, if at all. He apparently wants the image of the rebel in handcuffs exclusively. The likes on Twitter should be certain for him in America, where the easing question is increasingly becoming a political issue.
