Elon Musk fires thousands of Twitter employees again

Wave of layoffs in Chirping still not finished. After Firing Half of Twitter’s Workforce, Elon Musk now shifting its focus to contract employees.

According to reports from Platformer and Axios, Twitter is laying off thousands of contract employees in the US and abroad. The number of contract employees affected is approximately 4,400-5,500 people.

Most of these contract employees received no notice of termination. Most of them admitted to finding out only after they were unable to access the company’s e-mail and internal communication systems, and some even found out through the media.

Platformer reports that the layoffs target contract employees working in content moderation, real estate, marketing, engineering and other departments.

Twitter also did not inform executives of the termination of this contract employee. They only realized that their colleague had been fired after seeing that their account was no longer active on the Twitter system.

“One of my contract employees was recently fired without notice as we were making major changes to our child safety workflow,” wrote a manager. Chirping on the company’s Slack channel, as quoted by Engadget, Monday (11/14/2022).

According to an internal email sent to the terminated contract employee, Twitter explained that the layoffs were part of a shift in priorities and savings.
