Western media reported indignantly about another trick of Elon Musk – the head of Twitter dared to cancel the rule of the social network, focused exclusively on transgender people. Previously, users were prohibited from calling them “incorrect” pronouns and using deadnaming (that is, calling such people by the name given to them at birth). However, in early April, this paragraph of the rules disappeared from the general list.
Here’s what Twitter policy was like a couple of weeks ago:
We prohibit targeting other groups with repetitive slurs, tropes, or other content that aims to dehumanize, humiliate, or reinforce negative or harmful stereotypes of a protected category. This includes targeted misgendering and deadnaming.
The Gizmodo edition sent an official request about this whole situation, but in response, the Twitter press service sent reporters a poop emoticon.
At the end of the news on its website, the Gizmodo publication indicated that Elon Musk “has no idea what freedom of speech is”, because most recently his social network unblocked 12,000 accounts banned for “wrong” behavior.
