Elon Musk Calls for Lower App Store Fees in Talks with Tim Cook

Elon Musk promises to mediate with Tim Cook to reduce the fees of the “App Store”

Businessman Elon Musk said he plans to mediate with Apple CEO Tim Cook to adjust the App Store fees his app X pays.

The App Store, which is owned by Apple, charges developers a 30 percent commission on in-app purchases.

Musk tweeted on Wednesday: “Apple takes 30%, but I will talk to Tim Cook and see if this can be adjusted to be only 30% of what you take, in order to maximize what content creators receive.”

Musk brought up the topic as part of a broader effort to help content makers get more money for what subscribers pay.

Musk explained, “Although we previously said that NX will not keep anything for the first 12 months, and then you will get 10 percent, we amend this policy so that we will not deduct anything until the return exceeds $ 100,000, then we will take 10 percent.” .

This isn’t the first time Musk has publicly discussed Apple’s App Store policies, having previously complained about the “secret 30 percent tax” it imposes.

He also accused the company of threatening to “block Twitter” from the App Store, though he later said this was a “misunderstanding” after a private meeting with Cook.

The Engadget technical website ruled out Musk’s success in his endeavor, as Cook is unlikely to make such a concession, as he had not done it before, despite several other developers’ criticism of the App Store fees and the policies surrounding them.
