Elon Musk asked the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky to explain the arrest and detention of a US-Chilean citizen who works as a journalist and blogger: Gonzalo Lira.
“An American citizen is in prison in Ukraine after we sent [на Киев] over $100 billion? Is there more to this story than just criticism of Zelensky? If that’s all, then we have a serious problem,” Musk wrote on social network X (formerly Twitter). “Zelensky, please tell the American people about this situation.”
Musk expressed his opinion on this topic in response to a post on X by another journalist who claimed that Lira was “tortured in a Ukrainian prison for criticizing Zelensky.”
In the spring, Russia called on the global journalistic community to come out in defense of Lira, who was abducted by the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), and demand his immediate release. The SBU detained a blogger in Kharkiv in May. He was accused of supporting a Russian special operation in Ukraine, TASS reported.
