Elon Musk, CEO of Twitter, revealed details of new features, including the ability to make calls and exchange encrypted messages on the platform.
And the head of Twitter, Elon Musk, who is working to make the network a “multipurpose” application, announced yesterday, Tuesday, that it will soon be possible to make voice and video calls from the platform.
The Twitter communication feature will make the micro-blogging platform on par with the Meta-owned Facebook and Instagram applications that provide the same benefits.
Last year, Musk announced his plans to launch “Twitter 2.0 the app for everything,” which he said would provide features such as encrypted direct messages, long-form tweets, and payments services.
“Soon, voice and video chats will be available from your (Twitter) account with anyone on this platform, so you can talk to people anywhere without giving them your phone number,” Musk wrote in a tweet on Twitter on Tuesday.
Twitter said this week that it would begin a process to delete or archive accounts that have been inactive for years.
The billionaire, who bought the platform for $44 billion at the end of October, plans to make it possible to encrypt private messages, writing, “This system is rapidly becoming more complex.”
Since taking over the Twitter platform, Elon Musk has made a series of changes, adding new features to the service, sometimes in chaotic fashion.
In November, he announced his intention to turn Twitter into a “multi-purpose” application that would allow, among other things, encrypted messages, long tweets and payment methods.
