However, Federal Judge Alexandre de Moraes is demanding further documents. The judge set a deadline of five days to submit documents on the appointment of the lawyer. According to the “Spiegel“ must, among other things, submit a power of attorney and proof of their proper registration with the Chamber of Commerce of the State of São Paulo.
X was shut down in Brazil
X had previously missed a court-imposed deadline to appoint a legal representative, which led to the platform being shut down and daily fines being imposed. Elon Musk had already closed X’s office in Brazil in mid-August. He justified this step with fear of the then representative being arrested.
According to “heise online”, Musk accused Judge Moraes of attacking freedom of expression and called him an “evil dictator”. In addition, the Supreme Federal Court confiscated 2.98 million euros from X and Musk’s internet company Starlink because X had refused to block accounts of right-wing activists.
