The 25-year-old actress Elle Fanning (25) is known from major Hollywood productions such as “Maleficent – The Dark Fairy” (2014) with superstar Angelina Jolie (47). Fanning also shines as Empress Catherine II in her Emmy-winning historical series “The Great” (since 2020). But in the “Happy Sad Confused” podcast, the actress has now revealedthat she lost a big role in the past due to the low number of her Instagram followers.
“Not enough Instagram followers”
“Once I didn’t get a part in something big […]because I didn’t have enough followers on Instagram at the time,” Fanning explained to host Josh Horowitz on Thursday’s episode of the podcast. She added that that may not have been the only reason for the lost role, but it was ” been the only “feedback” the actress heard about.
Fanning went on to explain on the podcast that as an actress, she wouldn’t feel any pressure to be in Hollywood franchises from Marvel, Star Wars, or DC. Rather, she would strive to find the right balance in her career between blockbuster films like “Maleficent” and smaller, more tightly budgeted indie productions.
Over six million Instagram followers
The actress currently has over 6.2 million followers on Instagram, however, revealed back in 2016that her parents would not allow her to have a Facebook account in the past. She also used to have a private account on Instagram. The star did not specify which role Fanning had lost due to her insufficient number of social media followers. The third season of the Hulu series “The Great” was released in the USA today, May 12th.
