Elizabeth Tchoungui is on an official visit to Cameroon from April 20 to 27, 2023. The Orange Group’s CSR, Diversity and Solidarity Executive Director intends to take a look at the many social inclusion projects, community programs and environmental footprint deployed by the Orange Group and its subsidiary in the country. One of the major axes of its agenda is the inauguration tomorrow, April 25, of the Establishment and Services and Help through Work (ESAT). It is a vocational training center for people living with autism for which Orange has invested 28 million FCFA. The result of the collaboration between the Orange Foundation and the Center Orchidée, this center aims to support people with autism towards social integration and empowerment.
The ESAT is a place of learning, training to improve and bring know-how to young adults living with Autism Spectrum Disorders. The center consists of apprenticeship workshops in painting, pottery, sewing, looms, leather crafts, cooking.
A woman of action, Elizabeth Tchoungui is known for her commitment to solidarity, environmental protection, equality, etc. Autism is a cause that she defends and masters perfectly. Because, being herself the mother of an autistic child. She also recounts the journey of her autistic son in one of her books: “the day you were born a second time”. She is also known as the administrator of the NGO Action Contre la Faim.
Daughter of François-Xavier Tchoungui, Cameroonian and former diplomat, Elizabeth Tchoungui coordinates within the Orange Cameroon group, all projects related to access to education, mother and child health, women’s empowerment, the digital divide in Africa, the reduction of inequalities between men and women in the world of work, assistance to people living with disabilities, preservation of the environment, etc. And it is these axes that guide his visit to Cameroon. Another highlight of this visit is the descent to the first site of the project to restore 1,000 ha of mangroves in Cameroon. A project implemented in Jebalé not far from the city of Douala.
