Elizabeth Taylor: Discover 15 rare photographs of the icon from Hollywood’s Golden Age!
“I don’t like fame. “It doesn’t feel good to be in the public eye,” Elizabeth Taylor is heard saying in “Elizabeth Taylor: The Lost Tapes.” The documentary by producer and screenwriter Nanette Burstein is based on previously unpublished interview recordings of the actress from the archives of the late journalist Richard Meryman. “The person my family knows is real. But the other Elizabeth Taylor, the famous one, has no deeper meaning or meaning for me. It is a commodity and makes money. One is made of flesh and blood, the other is made of cellophane,” says one of the recordings of the Hollywood legend. The actress’ career began in childhood – and the international fame that came with it. Liz Taylor was one of the first film stars to receive a million dollar salary for a film role and spent most of her life in the spotlight. She repeatedly used her fame to draw attention to social and political issues such as AIDS awareness. Nevertheless, the Hollywood star was in conflict with the high level of public attention throughout her life and always tried to differentiate her public portrayal from her private life.
Elizabeth Taylor was born in London in 1932 and died in Los Angeles in 2011.
