Queen Elizabeth II did not attend the concert held in front of Buckingham Palace on Saturday evening as part of the Platinum Jubilee celebrations. But she showed herself to the audience in a short video with Paddington Bear, whom she invited to the palace for tea. Though she didn’t drink her tea.

Paddington Bear visited Elizabeth at Buckingham Palace. The royal porcelain served a pair of tea, which the bear drank quite greedily. When he realized what a blunder he was making, he wanted to share the infusion with Elizabeth. Unfortunately, there was no longer anything.

He also made a pulp out of a biscuit that was supposed to be dessert by tapping cream in the butler’s cheek. Impassive Elizabeth watched the teddy bear’s actions as the bear, as an apology, pulled a marmalade sandwich from his hat and offered it to the queen. As he added, “he always has one with him, just in case”. To his delight, the queen took a similar snack from her purse “for later”.

And when the sounds of the immortal “We will rock you” began to sound from outside the palace window, Paddington and the Queen echoed the characteristic clapping and stamping, tapping the cups with spoons. Empty because Paddington had drunk all his tea.
