Elissa and Saad Lamjarred from the first minute clip
The Lebanese singer, Elissa, responded to the calls that demanded that she apologize for her cooperation with her Moroccan colleague, Saad Lamjarred, and delete their famous song “From the First Minute” after the latter was sentenced to six years in prison, for his conviction in the rape case of a French girl.
In her recent concert in the Dominican Republic, the owner of “Ajmal Ehsas” ignored the demands of her fans, and sang the song “From the First Minute” on the stage, while showing the video clip of the work, which won more than 300 million views on “YouTube”.
This response was praised by a large number of Elissa’s fans and media activists, indicating that she is sticking to Saad Lamjarred’s support and will not delete their song. While others saw that she performed one of her songs and did not carry any hidden message.
The Lebanese artist was subjected to a campaign of harsh criticism after the Moroccan artist Saad Lamjarred was sentenced to 6 years in prison, on charges of rape against a girl in a case dating back to October 2016.
This attack came after her collaboration with Lamjarred last May, with the song “From the First Minute”, especially as she is a public figure who supports women with her stances and songs, including the video clip “Ya My Mirror”, released in 2015, which highlighted physical violence against women.
And a wide number of followers demanded an official apology from the artist Elissa, following in the footsteps of the American star Lady Gaga, who faced the same thing in 2019, who apologized to her fans and deleted her song “Do what you want”, which was released in 2013 with the American singer R Kelly, after He was sentenced to 30 years in prison for sexually abusing children and women.
Six years imprisonment.. and an appeal
It is noteworthy that, at the end of last February, the French Public Prosecution requested that Saad Lamjarred be imprisoned for seven years on charges of sexual assault. In turn, the Moroccan singer filed an appeal against the ruling issued against him, according to what was announced by his lawyer and a judicial source.
And Lamjarred had previously denied before the Criminal Court in Paris that he had raped the young Frenchwoman, “Laura B”, or had an affair with her.
The details of the case go back to October 2016, when a French woman alleged that the 37-year-old, famous in the field of Arab pop music, raped her in a luxury hotel on the Champs-Elysees while he was under the influence of alcohol and cocaine.
Saad Lamjarred received the support of a large number of art stars and celebrities, while others stood against him after his verdict.
