The Ukrainian tennis player, after defeating the Belarusian Victoria Azarenka, reached the quarterfinals of the Grand Slam tournament, Wimbledon today.
Since 2015, when Svitolina first reached the quarterfinals of the Grand Slam tournament, she became the fourth to enter this stage of the competition at least 10 times, according to the analytical portal Opta. Since then, apart from Elina, only three tennis players have managed to reach the top 8 in the Women’s Tennis Majors 10 or more times: Serena Williams (16), Simona Halep (13) and Karolina Pliskova (11).
Recall that today the Ukrainian defeated Azarenka in three sets (2:6, 6:4, 7:6). In the next round of the competition, Elina will meet with the first number of women’s tennis, Iga Sventek.
