A Bulgarian town put Sofia to shame with its Christmas decorations. If there was a competition for the most beautiful city in the Christmas holidays, Elin Pelin would surely be among the winners. The city is like something out of a fairy tale.
A Christmas bazaar in Elin Pelin raises funds to help couples with reproductive problems.
Behind the grills and stands stood mayors of settlements, municipal councilors and volunteers who worked for charity for the “We wish for a baby” initiative.
“We know that in Bulgaria there are over 250,000 couples who have such problems, and we decided that the most suitable moment for such a hope is precisely on the eve of the Christmas holidays. Municipal councilors, mayors from populated areas, not only from the administration, our friends, acquaintances, everyone got involved in what surrounds us, and in fact everything you see is again thanks to the greater degree of voluntary work and donors, so the budget we have spent is extremely small , but the environment and atmosphere is extremely Christmassy and festive,” said Ivaylo Simeonov – mayor of Elin Pelin municipality.
In the new year, for the first time, the municipality will finance assisted reproduction procedures and activities for couples who dream of children. And funds for the start-up budget will be collected for charity next weekend as well. The festive lights were also turned on today in the town square.
