Eliminates morning Presidency that announced support to repatriate Venezuelans

Mexico City. The Presidency of the Republic eliminated from its official networks the morning of March 21, where the economic support program for the repatriation of Venezuelan migrants was announced.

With this, the resolution of the Complaints Commission of the National Electoral Institute (INE) was complied with, which ordered precautionary measures against the conference that President Andrés Manuel López Obrador and members of his cabinet offered from the city of Oaxaca.

It was the PAN that filed a complaint against the presidential morning that day, considering that the announcement made by the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Alicia Bárcena, “violates” the law and equity in the electoral contest, despite that the beneficiaries are not Mexican citizens who can participate in these elections.

The measure, according to federal sources, will be challenged because for the federal administration the program is part of the State policy on immigration and not a social program.

At that conference, Foreign Minister Bárcena detailed that an agreement had been signed with the Bolivarian government of Venezuela headed by Nicolás Maduro, to deliver $110 per month for a semester to migrants from that nation who agreed to be repatriated.

This through the application of the Welfare Sowing Life and Youth Building the Future programs and will reach 9 thousand Venezuelan citizens.

The INE Complaints Commission accepted the PAN complaint and ordered the aforementioned morning to be lowered. However, he notified the Presidency of the Republic on Glory Saturday at half past one in the afternoon.

As it is a non-working day, the Presidency officials learned of the resolution of the INE instance until yesterday, Tuesday, when they were notified of a possible sanction for failing to comply with the precautionary measure, since the morning was still on the official networks of the federal administration.

Sources from the government of the Republic insisted that this is a “state policy” on immigration matters and that support for Venezuelans does not respond to a social program that benefits Mexican citizens.
