Richard Eliezer Pudihang Lumiu or Bharad E served his first trial in a premeditated murder case Brigadier Joshua Hutabarat. Eliezer did not file an exception to the prosecution indictment (JPU).
The trial took place at the South Jakarta District Court on Tuesday (18/10). Unlike Eliezer, Ferdi Sambo and Putri Candravathi, also accused of premeditated murder, presented a memorandum of objection or exception.
Ferdy Sambo and Putri’s trial took place the day before Eliezer’s trial. Putri still admits she was abused by Joshua.

“That the refusal of crucial facts by the prosecutor in the indictment may obscure the incidents of sexual violence committed by Nopriansyah Yosua Hutabarat to the accused Putri Candrawathi which took place in Magelang. Even if the incident of sexual violence was confirmed” Putri Candrawati’s team of lawyers said in the trial at the South Jakarta District Court on Monday (17/10).
The accusation of Princess Candrawati
In this case, Ferdy Sambo and Putri Candrawati were charged with the premeditated murder of Brigadier Nopriansyah Yosua Hutabarat. The act was performed together with Ferdy Sambo, Richard Eliezer Pudihang Lumiu, Ricky Rizal Wibowo and Strong Ma’ruf.
“Those who did it, who ordered to do it and participated in the act, intentionally and with a plan in advance took the lives of others,” the prosecutor said reading the indictment.
The series of murders took place on Friday 8 July 2022, around 15.28-18.00 WIB at Jalan Saguling 3 number 29 and the Duren Tiga police complex number 46 (hereinafter referred to as Saguling House and Duren Tiga Official House). However, the incident began at Perum Cempaka Residence Block C III, Magelang Regency, which is the home of Ferdy Sambo (hereinafter referred to as Magelang House).
In short, Ferdy Sambo ordered Eliezer to shoot Joshua. Additionally, Ferdy Sambo was called in by the prosecutor to develop a scenario that the incident was a shootout between Eliezer and Joshua under the pretext that Joshua molested Putri. This incident was later exposed and convicted Ferdy Sambo et al. pursuant to Article 340 of the Criminal Code, subsidiary of Article 338 of the Criminal Code in conjunction with Article 55, paragraph 1, of the 1st Criminal Code.
Princess version of the history of harassment
In the memorandum of objection, Putri Candrawati’s side also explained the chronology of the version of Putri’s abuse. Putri’s lawyer said Joshua had suffered signs of abuse when he was in Magelang on July 4, 2022.
Additionally, on July 7, 2022 at Magelang’s home, at 6:00 pm WIB, an incident occurred which was claimed to be sexual harassment against Putri. The incident was claimed when Princess Candrawati was sleeping after taking her son to school.
The team of lawyers said that when Putri was sleeping in a room on the 2nd floor of the house, Putri heard his room’s glass door open and found Nopriansyah Yosua Hutabarat already in the room.
“Without saying a word, Nopriansyah Yosua Hutabarat forcibly removed the clothes worn by defendant Putri Candrawathi and sexually assaulted the defendant. Due to the condition of the defendant, Putri Candrawathi had a headache and was not feeling well and Nopriansyah Yosua Hutabarat held both hands, the accused cannot help but cry in fear and with weak force tries to rebel, “Putri’s lawyer said.
The lawyer said that when Putri was being harassed, there was a voice as if someone was about to go up to the second floor. At the time, the team of lawyers claimed Joshua was panicking and asked Putri to shut up.
“The one who suddenly heard someone about to go up to the 2nd floor, Nopriansyah Yosua Hutabarat, panicked and put on the clothes of defendant Putri Candrawathi who had previously been forcibly removed from Nopriansyah Yosua Hutabarat saying ‘please , ma’am, please, ma’am. ‘Then, Nopriansyah Yosua Hutabarat closed the white wooden door and forced defendant Putri Candrawati to stand up to prevent people from going up to the 2nd floor, “he said.
At the time, Sambo’s attorney continued, Putri Candrawathi refused Joshua’s request by trying to restrain his body. Joshua, he said, also threatened the princess.
“Nopriansyah Yosua Hutabarat threw defendant Putri Candrawati’s body on the bed and then again forced defendant Putri Candrawati to stand up threatening: ‘Be careful if you tell Ferdy Sambo, I’ll shoot you, Ferdy Sambo and your children! ‘, “He explained.
Joshua even called Sambo’s lawyer and slammed Putri on the bed twice. Therefore, Putri’s lawyer asked the judge to quash the prosecution of the prosecutor. Putri’s side found the prosecutor’s allegations to be vague. Putri’s side asked the judge to accept their plea and quash the prosecutor’s charge. Putri has asked to be released in this case.
