Elianne Zweipfenning was urgently admitted due to meningitis

On Instagram, Elianne shares a photo of herself lying on a hospital bed. “About two days ago I started having a headache, but it was warm so I didn’t look in anymore,” she begins her message. Since she still had a lot to do for work, she didn’t take her complaints until she woke up this morning and couldn’t do anything anymore. “Just crying in pain and throwing up.”

Elianne’s neck was stiff and thick, meaning she was unable to move it. “My head felt like there was a bomb that could explode at any moment and I couldn’t focus on anything anymore. I couldn’t even sleep,” she wrote in her Instagram post.

Elianne decided to go to the doctor and it soon became clear that her doctor did not trust the complaints. They rushed her to the hospital. ‘Blood drawn, CT scan and spinal tap to remove meningeal fluid from my back.’ In fact there was a thickness or swelling in the neck. “They told me I have meningitis.”

To combat the inflammation, Elianne has been given three different antibiotics and has to stay in hospital for a few days. ‘I also get strong pain relief for that nagging pain and that really does its job.’ The worst thing for Elianne is that she has to lose her children, but luckily they are being cared for by family and friends.

Elianne hopes to recover quickly and ‘then we can get back to living at the highest level’. She ends her message with a plea to her followers: ‘So always listen to your gut when you notice something isn’t right and want to be seen and heard.’

In March, Elianne and her ex-husband Thomas Berge announced their separation. Together they have two children.
