Elham Shaheen: I expect that the “curfew” will tighten the penalties for incest

The Cairo Film Festival, in its 42nd session, witnessed the screening of the curfew film directed by Amir Ramses, and Amir said during the film symposium that he worked on writing the script more than once, and the final version of the script took about a year, which is the version that the artist Elham Shaheen and Amina Khalil read.

Ramses indicated that the killing of the father in the film was a reaction from the mother to his act of shameful action with his daughter and not a way to treat the problem, stressing that he was keen to hide the features of the father and not to show it on the screen. Ramses added that he had no problems with censorship because what was presented in the film was enough to convey the message from the scene.

For her part, artist Ilham Shaheen said that she was attracted to present the character of the mother in the film because she had not presented its content on the screen before, which is not easy, because she presented many characters and therefore it was difficult to find a different role.

Elham added, “The film is a new case, and for the first time it presents incest, because it is something that many people are too shy to discuss, but the film will open many discussions and I expect the work to intensify the penalties for incest, because the act itself is not a crime as much as this person in society is a crime.” She noted that our lives are more difficult than the simple love stories that we used to watch in black and white films.

While Amina Khalil said that the character who presented her in the movie had some doubts about the father, but with the mother being with her outside the prison, memories began to open again, but she was not aware of what happened in her childhood and all she remembers is that the father was gentle and loving to her.

Ahmed Magdy added that the character of Dr. Hassan was its mission to contain, as he is an ideal person to contain everyone, while Safi El Din Mahmoud, the producer of the film, said that he dealt with the film team as producers and dealt with them in an amateur spirit like he does in his short films, indicating that Ilham Shaheen is a cinema maker And a great actress and all of the team spent all their energy without thinking about the material and he was satisfied with the film, wishing it to live as long as possible.
