Elfsborg’s U-squad took a heavy victory against the league leaders in the hunt for promotion.
IF Elfsborg’s U-squad had its sights set on three points when the team visited IFK Värnamos’ home field on Friday evening. In fact, the home team went twelve games without a loss, of which they had won the last four games. It is also noteworthy that the last time Värnamo lost was against Elfsborg at Borås Arena with 0-3.
This match would be quite similar. Elfsborg started a good game and were able to get a good grip on the match. In the 17th minute, Lukas Paulsén was able to make it 1-0 to Elfsborg and the visitors got an even bigger hold on the match. The team chewed on and in the 32nd minute it was time again when Paulsén scored 2-0. In the half-time break, the visitors probably talked about coming out and attacking for a quick reduction, but the result would be the opposite when Ludvig Richter could make it 3-0 already in the 49′ minute.
Elfsborg thus took the chance to nibble at Värnamo’s league lead. It is a battle between IFK Värnamo (48 points), IF Elfsborg (47 points) and Kalmar FF (45 points) with one less game played. Three games remain for Elfsborg, two of which are at home. The next match is against Skövde AIK on October 13.
