“Elfsborg’s Coach Jimmy Thelin’s Tough Decision Leads to Victory against IFK Norrköping in Allsvenskan”

With a deficit at halftime, Elfsborg’s coach Jimmy Thelin made a tough decision.

Then Elfsborg turned away against IFK Norrköping.

– Obviously a very tough change, says team captain Johan Larsson in Discovery Plus.

Emmanuel Boateng injured himself almost immediately in Elfsborg’s away match against IFK Norrköping and was replaced in the 13th minute.

Noah Söderberg replaced him in central midfield, but the 21-year-old didn’t get to play for very long either.

Replaced and replaced

Söderberg was replaced at half-time, but not due to any injury.

Football is like that sometimes, that matches change character. You try to act from the outside, and in this case we felt that Michael (Baidoo) did better further down the pitch, and so we brought in Ahmed (Qasem) instead, says coach Jimmy Thelin to BT.

– It’s always tough to be substituted in and out, but both Noah and the team handled it well.

Elfsborg turned

IFK Norrköping took the lead in the first half when Arnór Sigurdsson scored from a free kick.

But the away team would turn around.

Jeppe Okkels put in 1-1 when Oscar Jansson was out of position and ten minutes later – in the 85th minute – the decision came.

The ball entered the penalty area and went into the goal after being controlled by the home team’s Arnór Traustason.

“Very tough change”

The victory was Elfsborg’s seventh in a row in the Allsvenskan and after the match team captain Johan Larsson commented on the unexpected change.

– Obviously a very tough replacement for Noah, who comes in and is replaced during the break, says Larsson in Discovery Plus.

– We don’t win just because Noah goes out, that’s not what it’s about. We stand up and put a hand on Noah’s back and he knows it’s nothing personal.
