Gottfrid Rapp scored 24 goals in 26 games for Elfsborg’s P17 team last season, when he also got to test in games with the P19. Ahead of this year’s season, the talented winger has also had the chance to show off for Boråsklubben’s first team.
One his he has taken.
Now Elfsborg announces that Rapp is being promoted and will be given a place in the first-team squad. At the same time, he signs a first-team contract with the club he has represented since he was 12.
– Getting the chance and getting up to the first team of course feels magical, says the 17-year-old to the club’s website.
– I look forward to taking the next step in my development, taking on as much as possible and doing it as well as I can. It will be an exciting challenge that I feel ready for.
Tony Lundqvist, sports manager for Elfsborg’s Undomsakademi, says the following about the promotion:
– Gottfrid is a serious and good guy that we believed in, and still believe a lot in. He has had a fantastic development in recent years, not least last year where he impressed greatly with his speed and technique. It feels fantastic to once again be able to promote one of our homegrown players to the first team. Now we wish Gottfrid the best of luck.
Manager Jimmy Thelin fills in:
– The youth activities are an important foundation for our DNA and our future, and now we are raising another one of our own players. Now begins a challenging journey with great opportunities for Gottfrid, with patience and hard work. We have a lot of faith in him.
Gottrid Rapp was brought up in Svenljunga.
