The football season is not over yet, but Frankfurt Galaxy has already published a job advertisement for coaches. However, the club says that this does not mean that they are actually looking for new coaches.

It is the worst season in the history of Frankfurt Galaxy in the European League of Football (ELF). This can be said with certainty even before the final match on Sunday (1 p.m.) against the Paris Musketeers. Now there is talk in football circles that the poor season will have personnel consequences for the coaching team. However, according to the Galaxy, this cannot yet be said with certainty.
The reason for the excitement is a job advertisement from the Hessians on a relevant football portal. “The Frankfurt Galaxy of the European League of Football is looking for a professional offensive and defensive coordinator to join our purple family,” it says. The Men in Purple are therefore looking for an offensive and a defensive coach – or not.
Haven’t spoken to the current coaches yet
“No personnel decisions have been made yet,” assured Galaxy COO Rick Striano in an interview with hr-sport. The job advertisement is purely a precautionary measure. Many Galaxy employees only have one-year contracts. If there are separations after the season, for example if a coach no longer wants to work for the Galaxy, the club wants to be prepared.
This season, the offense will be managed by Frank Roser, while head coach Thomas Kösling will be responsible for the defense. The club has reportedly not yet had any discussions with either of them about the future. “We’ll only do that when the season is over,” said Striano. The new head of operations at the Hessian club did not want to reveal whether the Galaxy is interested in continuing to work together.
Frankfurt’s veteran coach
While Roser only took over as offensive coordinator at the beginning of the season, Kösling has been a coach in Frankfurt for ten years. First at the Universe, where he was promoted to head coach in 2019, and since 2021 at the Galaxy. In his first year in the ELF, he led the Hessians to the title.
The Frankfurt team wanted to challenge for the top spot again this season. But things turned out differently. With only four wins from eleven games, the Galaxy are worse than ever before under Kösling’s aegis. Nevertheless, managing director Eric Reutemann told the FAZ at the end of July: “It would be cheeky to fire Coach Kösling.”
