The police took stock of the demo Saturday in Vienna.
Wien. Several meetings on various topics took place in Vienna’s inner city today. According to a preliminary balance, there were eleven arrests and numerous reports, as the police wrote in a broadcast on Saturday evening.
In the early afternoon an indicated rally was held in Resselpark with several hundred participants. The gathering set off on the route indicated in the direction of Augarten. In the course of the meeting, the police repeatedly intervened in the event of individual violations of the applicable Covid 19 measures. The demonstration in the Augarten was declared over by the chairman of the meeting.
At a displayed rally in the Donaupark, the majority of the participants did not adhere to the minimum distance and the FFP2 mask requirement. Here, too, the police systematically intervened.
In the area of the Urania / Weißgerberlände a small group of people gathered for a spontaneous rally to block the road. For this they used pallets and various objects. Since the mobility of the emergency services was restricted and thus public safety was endangered during ongoing missions to various gatherings and public transport was disrupted, the police broke up the rally.

In the late afternoon, an indicated rally on the subject of “Against Anti-Semitism” was held in the area of Herbert-von-Karajan-Platz. Participants in a spontaneous counter-rally tried to disrupt the gathering. Due to the mood and demeanor of the participants in the counter-demonstration, it was to be assumed that there was a high propensity for violence. Since the counter-demonstration had penetrated the protected area of the reported demonstration and the purpose was obviously to disrupt or even prevent the gathering, it was disbanded by the police. A direct collision between the two demonstration groups could only be prevented through the rapid intervention and the strategically good positioning of the forces deployed.
