Eleport will install 10 new charging stations for electric cars :: Dienas Bizness

By the middle of the year in the electric car charging network Eleport significant expansion is planned: ten new charging stations with a total of 20 ports will be in Riga, Ķegum, Sigulda and Salacgrīvā.

“Last year we installed 11 new charging stations in Riga and Jurmala, including the largest charging area of the Eleport network in the Baltics and Poland in the multi-storey car park of the Domina Shopping mall. It was a great stepping stone for the operation of Eleport in Latvia, but this year we plan to significantly increase the number of installed stations and expand the Eleport network to other parts of Latvia as well, so that the electric car infrastructure is affordable and accessible for motorists and ready for the electrification of the transport sector,” says Kārlis Mendziņš, head of Eleport in Latvia.

A 200 kW ultra-fast charging station with a charging speed of 1250 km/h, or 100 km in five minutes, and a 120 kW fast charging station with a charging speed of 750 km/h will be installed in Riga, Vienības gatve, in the territory of the “Rimi” store, while in Tilta street a 150 kW ultra-fast charging station will be installed in the parking lot of the Sarkandaugava “Rimi” store. In the parking lot of the “Spice Home” shopping center on Lielirbe street there will be a new 22 kW AC or slow charging station, more suitable for charging while shopping.

Eleport will also expand its charging network in the regions. One 150 kW ultra-fast charging station will be installed near Ķegum Hydroelectric Power Plant (HEP)*, 200 kW and 120 kW charging stations in Sigulda*, in the parking lot of shopping center “Šokolāde”, while three new charging stations will be installed in Salacgrīva, near the “Kapteiņu osta”* recreation complex – 200 kW and 120 kW fast charging stations and a 22 kW AC station. All new charging stations in Riga and regions will be equipped with two ports, for a total of 20 new ports in Latvia.

The new charging stations will be available to the public for all electric car users. The 200 kW stations will be equipped with two European standard CCS2 cables, the 120 kW stations will be equipped with both CCS2 cable and CHAdeMO cable and the AC stations – with European standard Type 2 sockets.

In Riga, at the “Spice Home” parking lot and in Sigulda, at the “Shokolade” parking lot, new charging stations will be available for use from February, while the rest of the stations are expected to be installed by the middle of this year.

This week, however, the first 100 kW Eleport charging station went into operation in Sigulda, in the parking lot of the “Raibais Suns” shopping centre, which will simultaneously recharge two electric cars.

“Eleport” started operating in Estonia in 2016 as an electric car rental service, soon expanded with a network of charging stations. Currently, “Eleport” has an electric car charging network with more than 150 charging stations.
