Eleport Secures €13.8 Million in Funding to Develop Electric Car Charging Infrastructure for European Transport Network

Eleport, the developer of the electric car charging network, has received €13.8 million in funding to develop charging infrastructure for the public European transport network (TEN-T). Eleport will install 138 new charging stations along the main transport highways in the Baltic States and Poland as part of a project funded by the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF).

In order to develop the infrastructure of a sustainable transport network in the European Union (EU), a total of more than 352 million euros of financial support will be granted. According to the CEF instrument, which supports the development of European transport infrastructure, 26 projects have been selected that comply with the principles of the Green Deal.

The European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency (CINEA) has already started the preparation of grant agreements with the selected project beneficiaries. The financing granted to Eleport will be used for the installation of ultra-fast charging stations in the European TEN-T road network in Poland, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia.

“As part of this project, we will install a total of 138 new charging stations: 90 in Poland, 20 in Lithuania, 15 in Latvia and 13 in Estonia. We will only install ultra-fast charging stations with a total capacity of 600 kW and four ports, providing each connected electric car with at least 150 kW of charging power. Thus, the charging network will be supplemented with 552 new ports. We will also carry out technical maintenance of the stations and take care of the user experience throughout their operation,” says Kārlis Mendziņš, manager of “Eleport Latvija”.

The exact locations of the stations have not yet been announced, but according to the terms of the project, all charging points will have to be located near major highways.

The Connecting Europe Facility is the EU’s main funding tool for boosting growth, jobs and competitiveness through targeted investment in infrastructure. It helps build efficient and sustainable European networks for transport, energy and digital services. CEF investments help fill the missing links in Europe’s energy, transport and digital networks.
