Eleport: Rapid Growth in Electric Car Charging Network Across Baltic States and Poland

The year 2023 is fast approaching its end, and looking back on it, the electric car charging network developer Eleport has experienced growth in four main markets: Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Poland, where the company already provides its customers with electric car charging options at more than 500 charging points (almost four times more than last year). Growth plans for the coming years are equally ambitious, thanks in part to a project funded by the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) to build ultra-fast charging points on the European Transport Network (TEN-T).

With its active operation, Eleport is becoming one of the largest charging station network operators in the Baltic States. The number of charging points serviced by the company is constantly increasing, and everyone can already charge their electric car at one of the 70 Eleport ports in Latvia. Eleport manages 252 points in Poland, 187 points in Estonia and the first 2 public ports were recently opened in Lithuania. It is expected that more new points will be opened regularly in all countries, so that by the end of 2023 the total number of ports in the Eleport network will reach almost 600.

The company expects that the number of ports will continue to grow significantly in 2024 as well. In the first quarter of next year alone, Eleport will open another 250 ports to its users. Such a significant expansion of the network is determined by the company’s commitment to promote the transition to sustainable mobility without the use of fossil fuels, as well as the ever-increasing electric car fleet, which requires appropriate infrastructure development. The growth of electric car users is particularly pronounced in the Baltic markets – the number of registered electric cars (Electric Battery Vehicle – BEV) increased by as much as 119% in Latvia in the first half of 2023, and by approximately 70% in Lithuania and Estonia.

Eleport not only provides a modern and developed charging infrastructure for electric cars, but also pays special attention to the aspect of sustainability. At charging stations, 100% of electricity is produced from certified renewable sources.

Considering the rapidly growing number of electric car users, the creation of an accessible and convenient charging infrastructure for everyone is an important aspect. In Latvia this year, we have installed 16 new charging stations with more than 50 ports, thus expanding the overall charging network. In addition, we also offer the largest ultra-fast charging network in Latvia. Despite the progress already made, we continue to grow and develop to provide our customers with a quality and sustainable charging infrastructure.

Eleport’s development plans are also ambitious in the field of expanding the infrastructure of the European transport network TEN-T. Thanks to funding from the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) program in the amount of 13.8 million euros, the company will install 138 ultra-fast charging facilities with a capacity of at least 150 kW in the coming years. Four connections are planned for each station, thus adding 552 new ports to the Eleport network.
