The Estonian electric car charging network Eleport is expanding its network of stations by installing the first three charging stations in Latvia, thus becoming an international charging network. The new stations not only expand the charging possibilities for electric car owners, but also charge from 100% renewable energy sources.
The new electric car charging stations have been installed in parking lots in three places in Riga, near the business centers owned by Realto – in Jugla near the business center “Manufaktūra”, in Purvciems near the business center “Ferrum” and “Braslas business center”. A 100 kW ultra-fast charging station with a charging speed of 600 km / h or 100 km charging in ten minutes has been installed in the parking lot of the manufactory. At this station, two electric cars will be able to charge at the same time, and as demand grows, it can be changed to up to 200 kW. In contrast, the parking lots of the Brasla Business Center and Ferrum Business Centers are equipped with dual 22 kW AC or slow charging stations, which provide a charging speed of 130 km / h, which will be more suitable for slow but fast charging while the electric car owner is away. in the course of work. At the charging station near the Ferrum Business Center, two electric cars can be charged at the same time, and at the charging station near the Brasla Business Center, four electric cars. These charging stations are equipped with Type 2 socket and Type 2 cables.
At Eleport stations, recharging can be done both by registered customers using the Eleport app or customer card, and by unregistered customers by following the instructions on the charging station and making a prepayment through uzlade.lv home page.
From year to year, the interest of the Latvian population in purchasing electric cars exceeds the previously expressed forecasts. With the growing demand for greener vehicles, there is a need for an orderly and convenient charging network that is available to the electric car owner regardless of the route chosen. These three stations are just the beginning of an extensive and sustainable charging network in Latvia, promoting the development of a climate-neutral transport sector.
Head of Eleport Latvija Kārlis Mendziņš
About six years ago, we changed most of our fleet to an electric car, and we are increasingly seeing that our customers and visitors to business centers also choose to travel by electric car. Therefore, as demand grew, we also wanted to expand and improve our range of charging stations. Eleport is currently the only private charging network in Latvia and with their help we were able to easily replace the previous stations with more modern and efficient ones, thus facilitating the future charging of electric cars for both our employees and our customers.
Agnese Rutka, Realto Real Estate Manager
Realizing that the existing charging station infrastructure for electric cars will not be able to meet the growing demand for electric cars in the near future, Eleport set the goal of providing a unified and accessible charging network throughout the Baltics, making the use of electric cars convenient and practical. After the successful development of the company in Estonia, Eleport attracted funding of 1 million euros to develop a sustainable charging network for Latvians as well. At present, Eleport offers to bear all the costs related to the installation of new stations for public use in order to connect the existing charging stations to the company’s network or to create new ones together with Eleport, promoting faster development of modern infrastructure in Latvia and the Baltics.
This year, Eleport plans to install a total of 30 charging stations in Latvia, which will provide more than 100 ports for electric car charging, and to introduce electric car rental services.
