As informed by “Elektrum Lietuva”, the company has taken over the company, which has a permit to build a wind farm with a capacity of up to 15 megawatts (MW), from private developers whose names have not been disclosed.
The amount of the transaction and other details were not disclosed in the company.
The manager of “Elektrum Lietuva”, Martīns Giga, explained that the transaction corresponds to the goal of both the company and its owner to strengthen the leading position in the production of green energy in the region.
As Giga said, permission has already been received to build three turbines, each with a capacity of five MW, near Naujoji Akmenes.
It is planned that the new wind park will start producing electricity in the second half of 2025. It is expected that the wind farm will produce 54,000 megawatt hours of electricity per year, which the company will sell both directly to customers and on the market.
It is the first wind farm developed by “Elektrum Lietuva”.
“Latvenergo” board chairman Mārtiņš Čakste states that the wind park in Lithuania together with the wind park projects implemented in Latvia will be a significant investment in the amount of electricity produced in the future, as well as in the energy independence of the region.
Čakste notes that income from this park will flow to Latvia.
“Latvenergo” has announced plans to create around 130 wind turbines in Latvia, with a total capacity of 800 MW, together with “Latvijas valsts žežim”.
The group is also interested in the possibilities of developing offshore wind farms.
The Lithuanian business newspaper “Verslo žinios” reported in December that “Elektrum Lietuva” plans to invest around 1.3 billion euros in wind parks by 2030.
