“Electronic Music Gathering Draws Thousands to Former Military Grounds Despite Gendarme Mobilization”

Four years later, bis repetita. In July 2019, an electronic music gathering saw some 1,500 participants converge in Viols-en-Laval, installed on former military grounds. On the night of Saturday to Sunday, a new meeting was organized there. During the night, the gendarmes of the Lodève company observed the arrival of dozens of vehicles on the spot. Lines of vehicles which quickly clogged the roads, in particular the Departmental 986 which connects Ganges to Montpellier.

Several thousand people expected

Vehicles registered from all over France but also from Italy or Spain.
Yesterday morning, the gendarmes of the community of Gignac brigade were always on the spot in surveillance, noting all the same a slowdown in the arrivals of revelers. These are several thousand people who could take part in this gathering scheduled to end on Tuesday.

About fifty gendarmes are mobilized on the device to facilitate traffic and secure the surroundings. The perimeter is monitored to prevent the arrival of new participants and numerous controls are in place. The departmental gendarmerie helicopter carried out regular overflights of the area. A meeting was also held between the duty sub-prefect, the security forces and the mayor. In addition, personnel from the Red Cross and several prevention associations are also present on the site.
