During the month of August, the Municipality of Río Turbio, in conjunction with the State Secretariat of Environment of Santa Cruz, invites residents to participate in the “EcoCanje Electrónico” campaign. On August 29 and 30, electronic waste will be received at two collection points, where it can be exchanged for ecological products. The collected waste will be destined for the Garrahan Foundation’s Recycling and Environment Program.
The Secretariat of Production, Industry, Environment and Community of the Municipality of Río Turbio, in collaboration with the General Directorate of Environmental Control and Monitoring of the State Secretariat of Environment of the Province of Santa Cruz, has launched the “EcoCanje Electrónico” campaign for the month of August. This initiative seeks to enable residents to dispose of their waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) responsibly, while receiving ecological products in exchange.
Items that can be handed in include computers, monitors, keyboards, printers, cell phones without batteries, televisions and any other electrical or electronic device that is no longer in use. In exchange, participants will receive products such as compost, garden seeds, seedlings or reusable grocery bags.
The collected waste will be delivered to the Garrahan Foundation in Santa Cruz, which will use it in its Recycling and Environmental Program. This program supports the Children’s Hospital through the purchase and repair of highly complex medical equipment, the acquisition of supplies, the training of health personnel, and other important services for patients.
Collection days will be on August 29 and 30, at two locations in the city: the Renato Nestiero Maré Cultural Center and the Secretariat of Production, Industry, Environment and Community. Reception hours will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. For more information, interested parties can call 425090.
This campaign is not only an opportunity to get rid of old electronic devices, but also to contribute to a charitable and environmental cause, helping to improve the quality of life of children who need it most.
