Electricity will increase in price by up to a fifth. The refrigerator now comes out to 2,000 a year, the kettle to the 500 – ČT24 – Czech Television

When Petr Bodlák calculates how many electrical appliances he and his wife have in the house, in the context of rising prices, these are not happy numbers. “Everything is here for electricity, underfloor heating, refrigerator, everything,” says Bodlák. He also heats electricity, he pays a total of about 90 thousand crowns a year for it. Now he reckons it will be even more.

“Twelve thousand a year on top. I’m a pensioner, my wife is also a pensioner, so what they add, I’ll turn on the electricity. I will not heat with coal or wood, at the age of 77 I will not pull buckets here, no, “explains Bodlák.

The owner of the pension, Roman Fišer, also heats electricity. When you add kitchen appliances and hot water heating to the costs, they pay about 200,000 a year. Now he expects higher costs, which will have to be reflected in prices. “We have not increased the price of anything yet, but we will probably proceed to it in the winter, because it is even more demanding for us in terms of heating the pension,” says Fišer.

He estimates that food and accommodation will become more expensive by about ten percent. But electricity prices could rise even more, mainly due to more expensive emission permits and the high price of natural gas.
