Jiří Gavor from ENA would also proceed with the fixation if the supplier has a reasonable price offer, where the price is lower than the expected increase in prices on the market.

At the wholesale price of electricity, Gavor hopes for a slight correction, when stock exchange prices should fall below 100 euros per megawatt-hour for at least a few months.

“However, when I look at 2022, I do not see a factor for a significant decline, because this year at the end of the year the German nuclear power plants will be shut down in the penultimate phase, next year will be the last phase and there will be a lack of power and demand. Hamster reminded that there are also problems in the gas market, when lower volumes of supplies from Russia are known. “Underground storage tanks are only three-quarters full before the heating season,” he pointed out.

An increase in supplies can be expected with the commissioning of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline, and Gavor expects a more significant drop in stock exchange prices for gas and thus more favorable prices for end users. It is therefore not highly recommended to fix the gas price now.
