Last week, prices increased in all “Nord Pool” sales areas. In all Baltic countries, the weekly average price of electricity was 147.88 euros per MWh, which increased by 18% compared to the previous week.
At the same time, the weekly average price of the “Nord Pool” system increased by 34%, reaching an average of 102.27 euros per MWh.
In Scandinavia, Sweden’s fourth trading area, which is connected to Lithuania, the price of electricity rose by 75% to EUR 130.42 per MWh, in Denmark by 60% to EUR 131.68 per MWh, in Norway by 32% to EUR 103.02 per MWh. Similarly, in the countries of Central Europe – in Poland, the average price was 129.37 euros per MWh, in Germany – 131.82 euros per MWh, and in France, the average weekly electricity price was 132.37 euros per MWh.
In the past week, the increase in electricity prices was mainly promoted by the air temperature, which was lower than the norm and under the influence of which the amount of consumed electricity continued to increase – consumption in the “Nord Pool” region increased by 9%.
In addition, wind production decreased – in the Nordic countries it was 21% lower than the week before, but in the Baltics it decreased by 56%. In the Nordic countries, the share of the available capacity of nuclear power plants continued to decline and reached 87% of the total installed capacity. At the same time, faster price growth in the Baltic States was limited by 10% higher energy flows to the Baltics compared to the previous week.
