The daily price of electricity has been declining for several days in a row, also thanks to the record amount of wind energy produced in recent days. In addition, the very mild climate and the fact that several companies close for the Christmas holidays also play a role – and therefore the demand is declining.
The average daily price of electricity delivered tomorrow is the lowest this year and one of the lowest in Western Europe: 5.76 euros per megawatt hour. The difference with the extreme peak of 700 euros per megawatt hour last August is enormous.
Electricity was slightly more expensive on New Year’s Eve last year: the price of electricity supplied on 31 December 2021 averaged 9.68 euros per megawatt hour.
