Electricity: Fixed prices for September are announced by the providers – 2024-09-03 05:50:50

On September 1st, the providers will proceed with the announcements of the charges for the special or green electricity tariff that will concern household consumption for September.

The level of charges from electricity suppliers will also determine the size of the electricity subsidy. This will be announced unexpectedly by tomorrow, Monday, September 2.

Electricity charges

According to today’s data, the competitive charges in the special or green tariff for electricity consumed in September are expected to move at the same levels as those in August.

The two large private electricity suppliers have already made relevant announcements in the past few days. Both Metlen’s Protergia and GEK TERNA’s HERON have announced their intentions to keep their special or green tariff charges unchanged.

A trend, which is expected to be confirmed by the largest player in the supply of PPC, as at least the latest available information indicates.

The subsidy

According to the latest statements of the Minister of Environment and Energy Theodoros Skylakakis, the government’s decision is to subsidize the special or green electricity tariff for the month of September as well.

The information states that the subsidy will be up to the amount announced in August. That is, it will be set up to 1.6 euro cents per Kilowatt hour.

The final prices after the subsidy are expected to be between 0.13 and 0.15 euros per Kilowatt hour.

The energy exchange

Wholesale electricity prices, as is known, are set on the energy exchange.

According to the data of the Next Day Market, for the month of August the average price closed at 129.83 euros per Megawatt hour, when in July it was 135.18 euros per Megawatt hour.

Worth mentioning is how between August 29th and September 1st the price for electricity in the Next Day Market plunged… more than 46%.

More specifically, last Thursday it was at 194.94 euros per Megawatt hour, while today it fell to 104.90 euros per Megawatt hour.

This downward trend is not certain to continue. It is possible that it will also prove to be seasonal, as as usual on weekends, electricity prices drop due to the reduction in consumption.

The Ukraine

Prices seem to be moving, according to analysts, at high levels due to the new uncertainty caused in the energy market in Europe after the latest Russian attacks on the Ukrainian electricity system and its infrastructure.

As is known, the electrical system of the E.U. it is interconnected and any event at any point in it causes knock-on effects on prices.

Uncertainty in Europe’s energy market also seems to be returning from the rise in natural gas prices. “TTF” moves to 40 euros per Megawatt hour when in the previous months it was at 30 to 34 euros per Megawatt hour.
