Two men were detained on suspicion of robbing a kindergarten by stealing electrical appliances, candy and blankets, the State Police informed.
This week, on the night of Thursday, by breaking the window, the men had entered one of the Vecmīlgrāvis kindergartens and stolen a mobile phone, a computer, two TV sets, candy and a sheet in which they wrapped the stolen belongings. The robbers had already managed to sell some of the stolen property in the pawnshop.
Police of the Riga Northern District, checking the scene, found a wallet with documents belonging to one of the men involved in the theft at the kindergarten.
During the operational investigation, law enforcement officers identified the possible culprits. They were men born in 1982 and 1987.
One of the men was detained around 13:00 in the territory of the Station Square, while the other – around 23:30 at his place of residence in Vecmīlgrāvis. Both detainees have previously been brought to the attention of the police and punished for property crimes.
Criminal proceedings were initiated for this case pursuant to Section 175, Paragraph three of the Criminal Law – for theft, if committed by entering the room.
