Electric Zoo Cancels First Day Due to Security Issues

The massive electronic music festival Electric Zoowhich usually attracts an audience of 100,000 people each year in New York, canceled its first day on Friday a few hours before opening the doors for security issues.

The festival organization reported the decision on its social networks and attributed it to “disruptions in the global supply chain” that have “prevented” completing the construction of the main stage on time, while the authorities alluded to problems of “security“.

Electric Zoo has been held since 2009 in New York and brings together the main DJ in the world, this year with names like Tiësto, Kaskade, Marshmello, Major Lazer or Nora en Pure, in an enclosure on Randall’s Island, located in the East River, between Harlem and Queens.

The local administration, in a message to the media, pointed out that this morning a team of workers evaluated the facilities and they were not “prepared to safely accommodate thousands of attendees”and tonight will determine if the festival can “continue on Saturday.”

The organization of the festival has said that it will reimburse the money for this canceled first day but anticipated that it will operate normally this Saturday and Sunday with a program that begins after noon and lasts until dawn.

The news comes after this July a concert by Colombian singer Juanes had to be canceled with the artist himself already on stage, at Central Park’s Summerstage, for reasons of securitysince it brought together in the vicinity an unmanageable number of thousands of people.
