Deliveries in Graz have been 100% electric since November 2021, with over 200 electric vehicles in use every day. The Austrian Post has now started a new pilot project together with Mercedes-Benz. Two eSprinters from Swiss Post were equipped with special filters to reduce fine dust emissions. Swiss Post not only delivers parcels, letters, advertising mail and print media to the people of Graz, but also filters out fine dust in the air.
“Here in Graz we have started an ambitious project with the ‘fine vacuum cleaner’ which has the potential to increase sustainability in logistics to a whole new level. I am particularly pleased that Mercedes-Benz has chosen the Austrian Post as a pioneer in terms of sustainability for this practical test. I am confident that we will be able to present the first results in the coming months, “explains Peter Umundum, Director of the Board of Directors for Parcel & Logistics, Österreichische Post AG.
The pilot project aims to reduce fine dust pollution and gain new knowledge on effectiveness, meteorological influences and durability in real operation. The test is carried out in collaboration with Mercedes-Benz Vans, filtration experts from Mann + Hummel and the Austrian post.
